Getting from Singapore to Johor, a primer

I mentioned in the previous post that Johor was extremely near to Singapore. But even though it’s so near, it’s still a different country. So how do you get into Johor and where will you end up? Here’s a primer.

There are two bridges linking Singapore to JB. The more popular one is the Woodlands Causeway which brings you directly into Johor Bahru city.

The 1km long causeway was completed in 1923 and has been in continuous operation till today. Despite its short length, the sheer number of people using it (particularly during the early morning rush and on the evenings from Thursday to Sunday) make it the most obvious but unpalatable choice.

Another bridge is located along the West of Singapore known as Tuas Second Link.  Spanning around 2km in length the linkway was open in 1998 and does provide a much easier…
